Athletics Hold Off Blue Pirates, 5-4
The <New Jersey Athletics:team#80> had to overcome a fine effort from <Ontario:team#77> pitcher <Cristo Mota:player#7028> to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Johnson & Johnson Field. Mota went 6 innings and allowed 5 runs. <Don Craig:player#9366> earned the win for New Jersey. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 11-7.  With the win, New Jersey raised its record to 88-70.

The Athletics got a big at-bat from third baseman <Tony Wheeler:player#11142>. For the game, Wheeler went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run  home run. His 16th home run of the season gave New Jersey a 3-2 lead.

"It feels good to get this one," Wheeler told the New Jersey News.
