Explorers Take Down Warhawks, 2-1
The <Oregon Explorers:team#75> took <Illinois:team#74> pitcher <Rubén Valdéz:player#11540>'s best shot and still were able to claim a win at Todd Berry Memorial Field. The final score had Oregon getting past the Warhawks, 2-1. Valdéz went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 4. <Will Gittleman:player#7025> came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 9-0.  <Tony Hendricks:player#2729> got the save, his 8th in 8 chances.

Oregon used the timely hitting of <Jonathan Heredia:player#11429> to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring  single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Explorers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Oregon manager <John Yuda:manager#7>.

After today's action, Oregon sits at 70-87; Illinois slips to 75-82.
