League Issues 5-Game Suspensions for Brawl
The action was hot and heavy at a recent <Kansas:team#180>-<Louisiana:team#179> game at Ballpark of Kansas in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Monarchs <Shigekazu Yamasaki:player#10882> and <Louisiana:team#179>'s <Curt Cháves:player#2350> will each miss 5 games for their roles in the fight.

"We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe."

To date <Yamasaki:player#10882> has chalked up a .348 average with 3 home runs, driven in 13 runs and scored 20 times.

This season <Curt Cháves:player#2350> has made 14 relief appearances, saving 2. His record is 3-0 with 23 strikeouts in 17 innings and a 1.06 ERA.
