Jacksonville Halts Perez's Hitting Steak
<Sanford:team#58> second baseman <Javier Perez:player#10551> went 0-for-5 today in <Sanford:team#58>'s 13-6 triumph over the <Jacksonville Rockies:team#64>, snapping his 21-game hitting streak.

Perez spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later."

"I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though."

When Perez made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending.

"There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Rockies manager said of Perez's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."

This year <Perez:player#10551> has hit at a .371 clip with 68 RBIs, 4 home runs and 80 runs scored.
