Athletics Stay Hot, Beat Blue Pirates, 9-7
Good production from first baseman <Luis Antonio Pérez:player#5163> helped the <New Jersey Athletics:team#80> topple the <Ontario Blue Pirates:team#77>, 9-7. Pérez went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Athletics. <Enrico Muñíz:player#1417> earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record is now 2-5. New Jersey has now won 5 in a row.

Had <Doug Lafleur:player#11678> not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Lafleur hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Athletics.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Pérez told the New Jersey Today. "It's as simple as that."
