Tompkins Gets Award for Relief Work
At the age of 16, <Mike Tompkins:player#5786> says he still has a lot to learn about life in High School League.

But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the <Garrettsville HS River Cats:team#152> reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2055 Republic League Reliever of the Year Award.

"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the  Windsor, California native said.

For the season, Tompkins had 6 saves in 10 relief appearances, which totaled 14. He fanned 24 betters, while walking 12 and put up a record of 1-0 to go with his 0.00 ERA.

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 40. <Ben Cook:player#6892> of the <Markham HS Coyotes:team#144> finished second in voting with 15 first place votes, while <Tim Waggoner:player#4937> of the <Saskatoon HS Moose:team#148> finished third with 13 first place votes.
