Barney Connects for 3 Homers for Pioneers
It's a rare event when a player hits three homers in a game and rarer still when he does it and loses.

It happened at Quebec City HS Grounds today, as <Bill Barney:player#12320> of the <Tucson HS Pioneers:team#137> unloaded three times against the <Quebec City HS Nordiques:team#165> but was still bumped off 8-6 by the Nordiques.

"We were lucky to win today," said <Quebec City HS:team#165> skipper . "You can't give up that many home runs and expect to win on a regular basis."

For the game, the <Tucson HS:team#137> second baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 times, and drove in 5.

<Barney:player#12320> spoke to the writers in the postgame press room with mixed feelings, saying he was sad to lose but happy to be seeing the ball well.

"I was just trying to swing early and often to give myself a chance," he said. "I let the pitcher supply all the power and try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

<Bill Barney:player#12320> struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off <Brendon McDonah:player#8566> in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off <Ed Lombardi:player#7718> in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off <Ed Lombardi:player#7718> in the 8th.

Barney is hitting .333 for the season with 7 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 13 hits in 39 at-bats and played in 10 games.
