Legends Welcome Nakao to HOF
<Shinji Nakao:player#2956> was a giant among pitchers and retired at the age of 39. Today his baseball career culminated in the ultimate -- induction in the American Federation Baseball League Hall of Fame.

"My dad told me as a kid, 'To dream big and dream always'. That's something I never forgot. It's what got me here today at the Hall of Fame."

One of his former teammates said when he introduced Nakao to the audience, "I have never seen such dedication to perfection. Anything less than perfect and he was not happy."

During his outstanding career <Nakao:player#2956> appeared in 375 games, struck out 1510 batters and walked 610 in 2444 innings of work. His lifetime won-lost record was 121 victories and 167 defeats. He had a 4.31 ERA, and opposing hitters batted .278 against him.

Later <Nakao:player#2956> told the audience during his installation speech, "I'm not trying to be cocky, but I set such a high standard for myself. I wasn't happy when I pitched seven innings and gave up two runs and got a win."
