Aviators Come Up Short at Ontario
The <North Carolina Aviators:team#8> got a sterling performance from pitcher <José Icaza:player#8781>, but the Blue Pirates still prevailed, 5-4. Icaza was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. <José Ordóñez:player#8652> picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 1-0. <Ken Daniels:player#1130> earned his 36th save in 42 chances.

Ontario took a 4-3 lead on <Ty Hinkle:player#3359>'s 76th hit of the season. The run-scoring  single, which Hinkle hit in the bottom of the seventh, left North Carolina pitcher <Ron Watkins:player#10139> visibly frustrated.

"We squandered some opportunities," said North Carolina manager  .

Ontario improves to 76-55 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
